The E-TEN M600+, an upgrade of the original M600, brings with it some useful improvements: “more memory, higher resolution camera and improved Bluetooth.

With the M600+ E-TEN have made a few modest improvements to the M600 specification to offer better value and features without impacting upon the performance that made the original such a hit favorite. Flash memory has been increased to 256MB (double the original capacity) meaning consumers can load the M600+ with even more mobile applications, personal documents and contact information. Secondly, the built-in camera has been upgraded and is now capable of capturing images up to 2.0 mega-pixels in size. Finally, support for Bluetooth 2.0 has been added.

The M600+ comes preloaded with the latest version of Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, which adds support for Direct Push technology. With Direct Push the mobile capabilities of the M600+ are extended even further by enabling most of the information stored on a corporate Microsoft Exchange Server to be updated directly on the phone. Many mobile professionals are now familiar with ‘Push Email’ services that allow the delivery of certain kinds of emails onto their mobile devices, however on the M600+, Direct Push goes even further allowing contacts, calendars, tasks and other information, in addition to emails, to be sent to the device.

Eten from Taiwan has refreshed their popular M600 smartphone, renaming it the M600+ but strangely removing the integrated GPS system in the process. The original smartphone was famous for having a simple design with a host of connectivity options, so its successor has pretty large shoes to fill. The Eten M600+ boasts an improved Bluetooth 2.0 over the original’s 1.2 with double the onboard memory of 130MB, bringing the total to 256MB. The 1.3 megapixel camera has been upgraded to a 2 megapixel version. The M600+ is powered by the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS with push email capability and will be priced slightly higher than the M600.

One of the best aspects of the E-TEN M600+ shows itself when you use the 2-megapixel camera. The screen is surrounded by icons which allow you to make settings such as changing the image resolution, applying filters and deciding whether to save your image on the internal memory or a memory card. You can toggle these on and off by hitting a toolbar icon on screen. I’ve seen this before from E-TEN, and I don’t think anyone can beat it for ease of access to camera options.
