Nokia 6125 Review

Sleek and compact outside, the Nokia 6125 offers excellent performance and a compelling feature set - including a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth wireless technology and digital music player - in a modern, folding design.

The quadband Nokia 6125 (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) is expected to start shipping during the second quarter of 2006 at an estimated retail price of 230 euros, excluding taxes and subsidies.

Combining the right set of features with excellent usability and keypad ergonomics, the Nokia 6125 has everything in balance. The silver and black colour scheme are complemented by sophisticated detailing and two bright colour displays. Equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, video recording and a dedicated camera button, the Nokia 6125 provides excellent on-the-spot photography capabilities.

The Nokia 6125 also offers a range of connectivity options, including Bluetooth wireless technology, infrared and USB, making communication with other devices quick and easy. With multiple messaging cababilities - including MMS, instant messaging, push to talk and Nokia Xpress audio messaging - consumers can conveniently keep in touch with others.

The first phone in 2006 from the Nokia stable, the Nokia 6125 is a quadband world phone - at least where GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz networks are present. The camera offers 8x digital zoom while a dedicated camera access button is provided on the phone. Photos and videos (as well as songs) can be stored on a microSD card.

With support for Infrared and USB connectivity (apart from Bluetooth), this phone is definitely on my list of must-have phones. The integrated music player supports MP3, MP4, eAAC+ and WMA. You also get Visual Radio and an FM tuner. The stereo audio over Bluetooth is just the companion to enhance your listening experience.

Stuffing a pair of able displays and a well-performing 1.3 MP camera into a light and sleek clamshell design, Nokia’s 6125 takes square aim at Samsung’s successful line-up of similarly styled handsets. With only 11 MB of onboard memory (holding 30-40 pictures) out-of-box, we yearn for a bundled USB cable or a memory card for the microSD card slot - but alas, no such luck. On the other hand, the 6125 does sport a comfortable keyboard and user friendly interface, as well as an FM radio and MP3 player; music lovers would do wise to look elsewhere, though. Voice quality proved very good, and a 3.5 hour talk time and 6 days of standby is nothing to sneeze at for €250.

Weighing at an acceptable 98 grams, the 90 x 46 x 23.6 mm frame of Nokia 6125 fits in your pocket snugly. It support Quadband network with auto switching to let you roam in most part of the world. With the XHTML Browser allowing the viewing of compatible web sites. With Email access, you will be having semi-Blackberry capabilities minus the speed. The Series 40 operating system enables the phone to have a simpler user-interface but still have the performance of its cousins of the higher Symbian 60s, 80s and 90s series.
